Hail Brothers Yesterday on the 04.12.2002 the time has come and we were off to Leipzig to finally see the Kings live. We arrived at 16.00 (doors opened at 19.15) and realized that, except of 2 cars, no one was there. We decided to stay in the car because it was pretty cold outside. At 18.00 we went to the doors and talked to other fans. As they finally opened the doors the people entered in a rush. I made it as one of the first view and stood in the second or third row. At about 20.00 the support act entered the stage. They are called Bludgeon but I'm not sure, they played Black Metal, not really my taste but I waited for the Kings and so it felt ok. After the support act played their last songs it took another 45 minutes - it seemed like eternity. I chatted with a girl that was at a show in Ludwigshafen the day before. She had a signed flag because she had a backstage pass. Then finally Orson Welles voice was heard and everybody knew what this meant: "FROM THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA - ALL HAIL -MANOWAR". Yeah, there we are, and two meters away from me Eric started singing. I still could not believe it. Everyone was singing along to "Manowar born to live forever more". But they played "Kings Of Metal" and Eric "Other bands play..." and the crowd "...Manowar kill", then they played Spirit of the Cherokee and Joey played the bass with such a passion. As the drums started playing the simple beat of "Warriors Of The World" the crowd went crazy. Everyone, but really everyone, even the ones that were passive till that song started singing along with Eric. They played "Call To Arms" and the new track "I Believe", too. Me and my friend liked Joey's and Eric's selection procedure (I think everybody knows what I mean). The appex of all was for me the time they played "Hail And Kill". My personal hymn. Then after some more songs the lights went off and Eric said: Good night Leipzig! I knew, cause I saw the concert on VIVA, that they would at least play "Black Wind Fire And Steel" before they go. But it was even better than this. Joey and Karl sat down holding accoustic guitars. A beautiful intro followed but I could not tell wich songs they were going to play. EIN FEUER BRENNT... The crowd was enthused. A totally harmonic mood filled the hall. Me and my friend sang along (if you could call that singing). Without stopping they played "Courage" and "Master Of The Wind". As the lights went off again, nobody could imagine Manowar leaving the hall without playing at least one more hard track. And we were right. A loud engine sound blew through the speakers so that a strange vibration filled the hall. I was getting louder (that's what MANOWAR is about). The Scott hit the stage on his Harley with a girl on his bike, then Karl, Eric and Joey followed (Eric's and Joey's chicks didn't wear shirts and both showed that they could not keep their fingers off of the girls). Then Joey gave us a german lesson. The chick that was on his Harley helped him out. He told us that she is horny and that they like being in Germany and the german beer and showed it, too. Now they went on with "Power" and "Black Wind Fire And Steel" and they were so damn loud. It was really a cool night that I will surely never forget. "We will return.", thats what Eric said, and thats what we think. The ones who were there can send me a mail to Christiangerbeth@t-online.de. It would really be cool if the girl with a flag woud send me an email if she reads this report. A SPECIAL HAIL TO ALL MANOWARFANS!!! Christian
